Over years of development, Miralogix has found that part transport is a key enabling technology that must be engineered to exacting standards when applied to an inspection system. Many CATPRO systems utilize conveyors to transport parts through the inspection system. However conveyors are limited in some ways, particularly in high-rate applications with complex part handling requirements.
The CATPRO 7000 series of products is designed to utilize robotic part transport through the CATPRO system in order to achieve high part throughput, and precise, complete inspection. The robot also adds a great deal of flexibility in how parts are routed through the system. Parts can be routed through two at a time, as in the 7000D system. Parts can also be passed through the system with multiple routes, for example, when part flow testing or X-ray testing is required. These processes are rate limiting, and often times 100% testing is not required. With the robotics parts can be pulled from the part stream as required and tested, and then returned to the part stream when the testing is complete.
In combination with the robotic part handling, other gripper based mechanisms can be used to move the parts through the system. Conveyors are still used for transporting parts into and out of the inspection system.
